Lake Rotoma (Roto'ma - Clear Lake)
Approximately half way between Rotorua and Whakatane on State Highway 30, Lake Rotoma is renowned for its beauty and its crystal clear water. It is a popular location for all forms of fresh water sport and recreation - swimming, boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, kayaking and, particularly, trout fishing. There are golf courses nearby, and an abundance of hunting, hiking and fishing opportunities in the surrounding forests, wetlands and rivers. Nearby, the Waitangi Soda Springs offer a relaxing way to unwind.
Rotoma is the clearest and cleanest lake of all the Central North Island lakes. At 10.8 Km/2 it is the forth largest, and eastern most of the Rotorua lakes. It features a multitude of white sand beaches where you can always find a sheltered place to enjoy your day's activities.
